CMD Sports was born out of a simple frustration. Two Australians who love baseball and basketball couldn't find the gear they wanted at home in Australia.

As players, coaches, and parents watching our kids come up through the game, we knew what great baseball and basketball equipment looked like. We'd seen it on trips to the US, walking through stores like Dick's Sporting Goods and finding brands, styles, and products that simply didn't exist back home. Australia had the mainstream and not much else.

So in 2020, we decided to do something about it. It started the way most good ideas start...scrappily. We bought an end-of-season liquidation lot from a Dick's Sporting Goods store at auction, built the site, and started selling. That's why if you dig deep enough into our store you'll still find the occasional odd product that doesn't quite fit — it's part of where we came from.

Since then we've refined our focus and built genuine partnerships with niche brands that serious players actually want — Rigorer in basketball, and Tucci and Birdman Bats in baseball. Brands you won't find at your local chain store. We also work directly with clubs and teams across Australia on custom teamwear and uniforms, which has become a big part of who we are.

We're not trying to be the biggest sports retailer in Australia. We're trying to be the best one for baseball and basketball — the go-to for clubs, teams, and individual players who want more than what the mainstream offers.
