Choosing the right bat makes a real difference to how you hit. The right length, weight and material can lift your swing speed and control, and give you more confidence at the plate. We stock baseball and softball bats from Birdman, Tucci, Marucci, Stinger and Rawlings, in wood and alloy, for players from juniors to seniors.
How to choose a bat
Length and weight
Younger players usually hit better with a shorter, lighter bat that's easier to control and swing. As you get stronger you can move to a longer, heavier bat for more power, as long as you can still swing it cleanly. A quick check: stand the bat upright next to your leg, and if the knob sits around your hip it's a reasonable starting length.
Balanced or end-loaded
A balanced bat carries its weight evenly and feels lighter through the zone, which suits players who rely on bat speed. An end-loaded bat puts more mass in the barrel for extra power, and needs a bit more strength to swing well.
Material
Wood bats give a traditional feel and are required in some grades. Alloy bats are durable and ready to hit straight away. Composite bats offer a lighter swing and a larger sweet spot, and hybrids pair a composite handle with an alloy barrel.
Check your league rules
Leagues set their own rules on bat material and certification (BBCOR, USSSA, USA and wood). Check what your competition allows before you buy. If you're unsure, message us with your league and age group and we'll point you to bats that are legal for it.
